Here's how it works:
* Sunlight: Sunlight is made up of all colors of the rainbow.
* Atmosphere: The Earth's atmosphere is filled with tiny particles of air.
* Scattering: When sunlight enters the atmosphere, these particles scatter the light.
* Blue Light: Blue light has a shorter wavelength than other colors, so it gets scattered more by the air particles.
* Our Eyes: Our eyes see this scattered blue light, making the sky appear blue.
When the sun is low on the horizon (like during sunrise or sunset), the light has to travel through more of the atmosphere. This causes more of the blue light to be scattered away, allowing other colors (like red and orange) to become more visible.
