Here's why:
* Kuiper Belt: Located beyond Neptune's orbit, the Kuiper Belt is a vast region of icy bodies. It's home to dwarf planets like Pluto, Eris, and Makemake. Due to their distant location, these objects likely formed in a colder, less dense region of the early solar system.
* Oort Cloud: Extending even farther out, the Oort Cloud is a theoretical spherical shell of icy objects that are thought to be the source of long-period comets. These objects formed in the outer solar system and were scattered outward by gravitational interactions with the giant planets.
So, while both KBOs and Oort Cloud objects formed in the outer solar system, objects in the Oort Cloud are thought to have formed the farthest away.
