  • Understanding Solar Radiation: 4 Types Emitted by the Sun
The Sun emits a variety of radiation, but here are four main types:

    1. Visible Light: This is the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that our eyes can see, and it's responsible for the colors we perceive. It's essential for photosynthesis and life on Earth.

    2. Infrared Radiation: This type of radiation is associated with heat. We feel it as warmth from the sun, and it also plays a role in the Earth's climate system.

    3. Ultraviolet Radiation (UV): This is higher energy radiation than visible light and can be harmful to living organisms. It's responsible for sunburns and skin cancer. However, it also plays a role in vitamin D production.

    4. Solar Wind: This is a continuous stream of charged particles (mainly protons and electrons) that flow outward from the Sun. It can interact with Earth's magnetic field, creating auroras and disrupting satellites.

It's worth noting that the Sun also emits other forms of radiation, including X-rays and gamma rays. These are generally more energetic and can be harmful in large doses, but they are usually absorbed by the Earth's atmosphere.
