  • Lunar Craters: Why Are They So Visible from Earth?
We can see the craters on the moon so clearly from Earth for a few reasons:

    * Absence of atmosphere: The moon has no atmosphere to speak of, which means there is no weather or erosion to wear down the craters. This allows them to remain largely undisturbed for billions of years.

    * Large size of craters: Many lunar craters are quite large, some even hundreds of miles across. These large features are easily visible from Earth.

    * Distance from Earth: While the moon is far away, it's also the closest celestial body to us. This proximity makes it easier to see surface details.

    * Reflective surface: The lunar surface is covered in a dusty, powdery regolith, which reflects sunlight very well. This bright surface makes the craters even more prominent.

To summarize: The combination of a lack of atmosphere, large crater sizes, relatively close proximity, and a highly reflective surface allows us to see the craters on the moon very clearly from Earth.
