It's not quite accurate to say the Milky Way is a certain distance from Earth. Here's why:

* We're inside the Milky Way: Earth is located within the Milky Way galaxy, not outside of it.

* The Milky Way is vast: It's a spiral galaxy spanning about 100,000 light-years across.

* Our location: Our solar system is situated in one of the spiral arms, about 26,000 light-years from the galactic center.

So, while we can talk about our distance from the galactic center, it doesn't make sense to say the Milky Way is a certain distance from Earth.
