  • Exoplanet Diversity: Which Planets Differ Most from Earth?
Most known extrasolar planets least resemble Earth.

    Here's why:

    * Size and Composition: Many exoplanets are gas giants much larger than Jupiter, or "super-Earths" that are denser and more massive than our planet.

    * Orbit: Many exoplanets have highly elliptical orbits, unlike the relatively circular orbit of Earth. Some are even "hot Jupiters" orbiting very close to their star.

    * Atmosphere: Many exoplanets have atmospheres composed of different gases than Earth's, often containing heavier elements.

    * Habitable Zone: While some exoplanets exist in their star's habitable zone, a large portion are located outside of it.

While the discovery of exoplanets has expanded our understanding of planetary systems, Earth remains a unique and special planet in our solar system.
