  • Star Colors: Understanding Stellar Temperatures & Appearance
While stars can appear in a wide range of colors to our eyes, their true colors are more subtle and determined by their temperature. Here are the five basic colors, from coolest to hottest:

    1. Red: Coolest stars, around 3,500 K (6,000°F).

    2. Orange: Slightly hotter than red, around 4,000-5,000 K (7,000-9,000°F).

    3. Yellow: Our Sun's color, around 5,500 K (9,900°F).

    4. White: A combination of colors, around 7,500 K (13,500°F).

    5. Blue: The hottest stars, above 10,000 K (17,500°F).

Remember, these are broad categories, and stars within each category can have subtle color variations.
