  • The Sun's Location in the Milky Way: A Galactic Overview
Our Sun is located in the Orion Arm, a minor spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy.

It's about 26,000 light-years from the galactic center and about halfway out from the center to the edge of the Milky Way.

We are also located within a "sub-structure" of the Orion Arm known as the Local Bubble, a region of relatively low density hot gas.
