  • Polaris: Understanding the North Star and Earth's Rotation
    The star that the North Pole points to as the Earth revolves around the sun is called Polaris, also known as the North Star.

    While it's not exactly at the North Celestial Pole, it's so close that for practical purposes, it appears to be the fixed point around which all other stars in the Northern Hemisphere seem to rotate.
