  • Orion Constellation: Alternative Names & Cultural Significance
There isn't a widely recognized, official alternative name for the constellation Orion. It's simply known as Orion.

However, different cultures have their own names and interpretations for the constellation:

    * In Greek mythology, Orion was a giant hunter. This is where the constellation gets its name.

    * In Egypt, it was associated with the god Osiris.

    * In Babylonian astronomy, it was known as "The Slasher".

These are just a few examples, and many other cultures have their own stories and names for the constellation. But in the modern Western world, it's almost exclusively known as Orion.
