  • Brightest Planet in the Night Sky: Venus vs. Jupiter
The answer depends on what you mean by "brightest".

    * Most consistently bright: Venus is generally the brightest planet in the night sky, often outshining even the brightest stars. It's so bright because of its thick, reflective atmosphere and its relatively close proximity to Earth.

    * Brightest at certain times: Jupiter can sometimes be brighter than Venus, particularly when it's at its closest point to Earth.

    * Overall brightness: Technically, Jupiter is the largest and most massive planet in our solar system, and therefore has the most total light reflecting off of it. However, this doesn't mean it's always the brightest to us because its distance from Earth varies.

So, while Venus is typically the brightest planet visible in the night sky, Jupiter can sometimes surpass it in brilliance.
