The Sun's intense heat and radiation make it impossible for any spacecraft to survive a direct encounter.

However, we have sent probes that have flown close to the Sun, like the:

* Parker Solar Probe: This NASA mission is currently in orbit around the Sun, getting closer to it than any previous spacecraft. It's designed to study the Sun's corona and understand the mechanisms behind solar wind.

* SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory): This joint mission between NASA and the European Space Agency has been studying the Sun from a vantage point about a million miles from Earth since 1995.

While we can't send probes directly into the Sun, these missions are providing us with incredible insights into our star and its effects on our solar system.
