  • Understanding Our Solar System: Planets, Moons & More
The system of objects around the sun is called the Solar System. It consists of:

    * The Sun: A star at the center of the Solar System.

    * Planets: Eight major planets orbiting the Sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

    * Dwarf Planets: Celestial bodies that orbit the Sun like planets but are smaller and share their orbital space with other objects. Examples include Pluto, Ceres, Eris, Makemake, and Haumea.

    * Moons: Natural satellites that orbit planets. Earth has one moon, while other planets can have multiple moons.

    * Asteroids: Rocky bodies, mostly found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

    * Comets: Icy bodies that orbit the Sun in highly elliptical paths.

    * Meteoroids: Small rocky or metallic bodies that orbit the Sun.

    * Interplanetary Dust and Gas: A thin layer of dust and gas that fills the Solar System.

The Solar System is a vast and complex system that has been studied and explored for centuries. We are still learning new things about it every day.
