  • Altair Star: Mass, Luminosity & Stellar Classification Explained
Altair is considered a high-mass star. Here's why:

    * Luminosity: Altair is significantly brighter than our Sun. It has a luminosity around 10 times that of our Sun, indicating a higher energy output.

    * Temperature: Altair's surface temperature is about 7,500 Kelvin, hotter than the Sun's 5,778 Kelvin. This higher temperature also suggests a higher mass.

    * Spectral Type: Altair is classified as an A-type star, which generally corresponds to stars that are more massive than our Sun.

While it's not the most massive star we know, Altair is definitely considered a high-mass star relative to our Sun.
