  • Venus: The Only Planet That Rotates Backwards? - Explained
    There is a misconception that two planets spin backwards. In reality, only one planet in our solar system spins backwards:

    * Venus

    Venus rotates in a retrograde direction, meaning it spins from east to west, unlike most other planets in our solar system which spin from west to east.

    The reason for Venus' backward spin is still debated, but it's thought to be a result of a massive impact early in its history that flipped its rotation.

    While Uranus is often mentioned as spinning backwards, it's not entirely accurate. Uranus's rotation axis is tilted almost 90 degrees, so it appears to be spinning on its side.
