  • Understanding Shooting Stars: What Causes Meteors?
Stars don't actually fall down from the sky! What we see as "falling stars" are actually meteors. Here's the breakdown:

    * Stars are gigantic balls of burning gas located incredibly far away from Earth. They stay in their positions, held by the immense gravity of our galaxy.

    * Meteors are small pieces of space debris, often remnants of comets or asteroids, that enter Earth's atmosphere.

    * As a meteor enters the atmosphere, it burns up due to friction with the air, creating the bright streak of light we see, which is often referred to as a "shooting star" or a "falling star."

So, it's not stars falling down, but small bits of space rock burning up in our atmosphere.
