  • Solar Nebula Hypothesis: Origins & Key Scientists
The Solar Nebula Hypothesis is a theory, not an invention. It wasn't created by a single person, but rather developed over time by many scientists.

Here are some of the key figures who contributed to the development of the theory:

    * Immanuel Kant (1755): Proposed that the solar system formed from a rotating cloud of gas and dust.

    * Pierre-Simon Laplace (1796): Proposed a similar theory, suggesting that the solar system formed from a spinning cloud of gas that cooled and contracted.

    * Viktor Safronov (1960s): Developed a mathematical model to explain the formation of planets from the accretion of smaller particles.

    * Alan Boss (1990s): Used computer simulations to model the formation of stars and planetary systems from collapsing clouds of gas.

The Solar Nebula Hypothesis is still being refined and improved upon today, but it is widely accepted as the best explanation for the formation of our solar system.
