    The International Astronomical Union (IAU) officially recognizes eight planets in our solar system:

    * Mercury

    * Venus

    * Earth

    * Mars

    * Jupiter

    * Saturn

    * Uranus

    * Neptune

    Pluto, which was once considered the ninth planet, was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006.
