  • Funnel Cloud Spotted? Understanding Tornado Warnings and Safety
If a funnel cloud has been spotted, meteorologists will issue a Tornado Warning.

    Here's why:

    * Funnel Cloud: A funnel cloud is a rotating column of cloud that doesn't reach the ground. It's a sign that conditions are ripe for a tornado, but it's not a tornado yet.

    * Tornado Warning: This warning means that a tornado has been sighted or indicated by radar. It means immediate action is needed, as a tornado is a dangerous and destructive phenomenon.

Important Note: Even if a funnel cloud doesn't touch down, it's still a serious weather event. Always take shelter immediately if you see a funnel cloud or receive a Tornado Warning.
