  • Ionosphere Height: Understanding Atmospheric Layers & Ranges
    The ionosphere is not a layer with a defined height. It is a region of the Earth's upper atmosphere that is characterized by the presence of ions and free electrons.

    Instead of a single height, the ionosphere is often divided into different layers, each with a varying altitude range:

    * D layer: 55-90 km (34-56 miles)

    * E layer: 90-150 km (56-93 miles)

    * F layer: 150-1000 km (93-621 miles)

    The F layer is further divided into F1 and F2 layers, with the F2 layer being the highest.

    Important Note: The boundaries and heights of these layers vary with factors like time of day, season, and solar activity.
