  • The Telescope: How It Revolutionized Solar System Discovery
The instrument that helped early scientists discover more bodies in the solar system was the telescope.

    Here's why:

    * Improved Observation: Telescopes allowed scientists to see much fainter and more distant objects than the naked eye could. This was crucial for detecting planets, moons, comets, and asteroids that were previously invisible.

    * Early Discoveries: Galileo Galilei, using his own telescope, made groundbreaking discoveries like the moons of Jupiter and the phases of Venus, which provided strong evidence for a heliocentric (sun-centered) solar system.

    * Continued Exploration: As telescopes improved in power and sophistication throughout history, they enabled the discovery of countless celestial bodies, including Uranus, Neptune, and numerous asteroids.

While other instruments like spectrometers and cameras are now used to analyze these bodies in more detail, the telescope remains the fundamental tool for discovering and observing objects in our solar system.
