  • Main Sequence Stars: Understanding High & Low Mass Stars
Both high mass and low mass adult stars are classified as main sequence stars.

    Here's why:

    * Main Sequence: This is the longest and most stable stage of a star's life. During this stage, stars fuse hydrogen into helium in their core, generating the energy that makes them shine.

    * High Mass Stars: These stars are much larger and more massive than our Sun. They burn through their fuel much faster and have shorter lifespans.

    * Low Mass Stars: These stars are smaller and less massive than our Sun. They burn through their fuel much slower and have much longer lifespans.

While the size and lifespan of a star are significantly different between high and low mass stars, both categories fall under the main sequence classification during their adult stage.
