  • First Quarter Moon Rise & Set Time: Understanding Lunar Visibility
A first quarter moon rises around noon and sets around midnight.

    Here's why:

    * Lunar Phases: The moon's phases are determined by the angle at which we see the sunlit portion of the moon from Earth. A first quarter moon is when half of the moon is illuminated, with the sunlit side facing the east.

    * Moon's Orbit: The moon orbits the Earth in the same direction as the Earth rotates around its axis.

    * Sunrise and Sunset: Since the first quarter moon is illuminated on its eastern side, it rises roughly when the sun does (noon). The opposite side, which is dark, is facing the west, so it sets around midnight.

Important Note: These are general guidelines. The exact time of moonrise and moonset can vary slightly depending on your location and the time of year.
