  • Moon and Stars: Understanding Their Colors - A Scientific Explanation
The Moon and stars don't actually have a color of their own. They reflect light from the Sun.

    Here's why:

    * The Moon: The Moon appears white or grayish because it reflects sunlight. The color we perceive depends on the angle of the sunlight and the composition of the lunar surface.

    * Stars: Stars emit their own light, but we see them as different colors depending on their temperature. Hotter stars appear blue, while cooler stars appear red.

So, while we might say the Moon is "white" and a star is "red," these colors are really just our perception of the light they reflect or emit.
