  • Why Does the Sun Rise and Set? Understanding Earth's Rotation
The apparent motion of the sun rising and setting is an illusion caused by the Earth's rotation.

    Here's how it works:

    * Earth's Rotation: The Earth spins on its axis, completing one rotation approximately every 24 hours. This rotation is what causes day and night.

    * Perspective: As the Earth rotates, different parts of the planet face the sun. When your location on Earth faces the sun, it's daytime. When your location faces away from the sun, it's nighttime.

    * The Illusion: From our perspective on Earth, it appears as if the sun is moving across the sky. We see it "rise" in the east as our location rotates to face the sun, and "set" in the west as our location rotates away from the sun.

It's important to remember that the sun is actually stationary in space, and it's the Earth's movement that creates the illusion of the sun's motion.
