  • Apollo 1: History of the First Crewed Moon Mission & Early Flights
    The first Apollo mission was Apollo 1 which launched on January 27, 1967. However, it was a test flight and did not go to the Moon. The crew died in a fire during a launch pad test.

    The first manned Apollo mission to actually fly into space was Apollo 7, which launched on October 11, 1968.
