  • Pleiades Stars: A Guide to the Seven Sisters' Named Stars
The Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters, is a beautiful star cluster with many stars visible to the naked eye. However, there are only a few named stars in the Pleiades:

    * Alcyone: The brightest star in the cluster, also known as η Tauri (Eta Tauri).

    * Atlas: The second brightest, designated ζ Tauri (Zeta Tauri).

    * Electra: The third brightest, known as 17 Tauri.

    * Merope: The fourth brightest, designated 23 Tauri.

    * Asterope: The fifth brightest, often listed as 21 Tauri.

    * Maia: The sixth brightest, designated 20 Tauri.

    * Taygeta: The seventh brightest, designated 19 Tauri.

    * Celaeno: Often listed as 16 Tauri.

It's important to note: While these are the main named stars, the Pleiades contains hundreds of stars, and astronomers have catalogued many more.

Fun Fact: The seven named stars are associated with the seven daughters of Atlas and Pleione in Greek mythology.
