  • Permanent Orbital Research Labs: What's in Space?
There is currently no research laboratory permanently in orbit around Earth.

While the International Space Station (ISS) has been continuously inhabited since 2000, it's technically a multi-national cooperative project rather than a single research laboratory. It houses experiments from various countries and scientific disciplines.

However, the ISS is a testament to the long-term potential of space research and is a stepping stone towards future permanent orbital laboratories.
