Flybys:
* Pioneer 10 (1973): The first spacecraft to fly by Jupiter, it sent back the first close-up images of the planet and its Great Red Spot.
* Pioneer 11 (1974): The second spacecraft to fly by Jupiter, it provided more detailed images and data about the planet's atmosphere and magnetosphere.
* Voyager 1 (1979): Took detailed images of Jupiter's atmosphere, its moons, and its rings.
* Voyager 2 (1979): Took even more detailed images and data than Voyager 1, including the first images of Jupiter's volcanic moon Io.
* Ulysses (1992): While not specifically targeting Jupiter, this probe flew by the planet to study its magnetosphere.
Orbiters:
* Galileo (1995-2003): The first spacecraft to orbit Jupiter. It provided detailed images and data about the planet's atmosphere, moons, and magnetosphere. It also dropped a probe into Jupiter's atmosphere.
* Juno (2016-present): Currently orbiting Jupiter, it is studying the planet's gravitational field, magnetic field, and atmosphere. It is providing unprecedented views of Jupiter's poles.
Other Missions:
* Cassini (2000-2017): While primarily focused on Saturn, Cassini made two flybys of Jupiter in 2000 and 2001, providing additional data and images.
Future Missions:
* Europa Clipper (planned launch 2024): While its primary target is Europa, a moon of Jupiter, it will make numerous flybys of Jupiter itself, collecting data about the planet's atmosphere and magnetosphere.
* JUICE (planned launch 2023): This mission will orbit Jupiter and conduct detailed studies of its three largest moons: Ganymede, Callisto, and Europa.
This list doesn't include all the missions that have flown past Jupiter, but it highlights the major ones.
