Here's why:
* Abundant: Red dwarfs are incredibly numerous, making up about 85% of all stars in the Milky Way galaxy.
* Long-Lived: They burn hydrogen fuel very slowly, making them incredibly long-lived – some could potentially live for trillions of years.
* Cool and Dim: They are much cooler and fainter than our Sun, making them difficult to observe directly.
While they are the most common, red dwarfs are also the smallest and least massive stars. Our Sun, a yellow dwarf, is considered a more "average" star in terms of size and mass.
