  • Venus Atmosphere Composition: Gases and Greenhouse Effects
The atmosphere of Venus is composed primarily of:

    * Carbon dioxide (CO2): This makes up a whopping 96.5% of the Venusian atmosphere. It's responsible for the planet's extremely strong greenhouse effect.

    * Nitrogen (N2): This makes up 3.5% of the atmosphere.

    * Other trace gases: These include sulfur dioxide (SO2), argon (Ar), carbon monoxide (CO), water vapor (H2O), helium (He), neon (Ne), and krypton (Kr).

It's worth noting that while water vapor is present in the atmosphere, it is only a trace amount due to the extreme heat on the surface.
