  • Earth's Equator: Where Sunlight Hits Directly - Understanding Solar Angles
The Sun's rays hit the Earth's surface nearly at right angles at the equator.

This is because the Earth is tilted on its axis at approximately 23.5 degrees. This tilt causes the Sun's rays to hit different parts of the Earth at varying angles throughout the year. At the equator, the Sun's rays are most direct and the angle is closest to 90 degrees, resulting in the strongest concentration of solar energy.
