  • Venus: The Only Inner Planet with a Retrograde Rotation - Explained
The only inner planet with a retrograde rotation is Venus.

Retrograde rotation means the planet spins on its axis in the opposite direction to the majority of the other planets in the solar system, which rotate in a counter-clockwise direction when viewed from above the North Pole. Venus rotates clockwise, which makes its sunrise in the west and sunset in the east.

It's still a mystery why Venus rotates this way. Some theories suggest that a massive impact early in its history could have flipped its rotation.
