  • How Refracting Telescopes Work: Lenses & Image Formation
A refracting telescope produces an image using lenses.

    Here's how it works:

    * Objective lens: The large lens at the front of the telescope collects light from the distant object.

    * Eyepiece lens: This smaller lens magnifies the image formed by the objective lens.

The objective lens bends (refracts) the incoming light rays, causing them to converge at a focal point. The eyepiece lens then magnifies the image formed at that point, allowing us to see a larger and more detailed view of the distant object.
