  • Artificial Planets: Understanding the Science Behind Them
There is no such thing as a "first artificial planet of the Sun". Here's why:

    * Planets are naturally occurring celestial bodies. They are formed from the accretion of gas and dust within a protoplanetary disk.

    * Artificial objects are created by humans. While we have launched satellites and space probes, these are nowhere near the size or mass required to be considered planets.

    * The definition of a planet is specific. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) defines a planet as a celestial body that:

    * Is in orbit around the Sun.

    * Has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a hydrostatic equilibrium (nearly round) shape.

    * Has cleared the neighborhood around its orbit.

It's theoretically possible for humans to create an object large enough and in the right orbit to potentially be considered a planet, but the technology and resources to do so are currently far beyond our capabilities.
