  • Saturn V Rocket: Did It Land on the Moon? - Apollo Missions Explained
The Saturn V rocket itself never landed on the moon.

    Here's why:

    * The Saturn V was a launch vehicle: It was a massive rocket designed to launch the Apollo spacecraft into orbit and towards the moon.

    * The Apollo spacecraft landed on the moon: The Saturn V boosted the Apollo Command and Service modules and the Lunar Module into space. The Lunar Module then detached from the Command Module and landed on the moon's surface.

The Saturn V would have remained in Earth's orbit or burned up in the atmosphere during its return to Earth.
