  • Visible Sun: What Parts Can You See from Earth?
You can directly observe the following parts of the Sun from Earth:

    * Photosphere: This is the visible surface of the Sun, the layer we see as the bright, yellow disk. It's where the Sun's light originates.

    * Sunspots: These are cooler, darker areas on the photosphere caused by intense magnetic activity.

    * Solar Flares: These are sudden bursts of energy and radiation from the Sun's surface, often associated with sunspots. While not directly visible, they can be seen indirectly through their impact on the Earth's atmosphere (causing auroras).

    * Solar Prominences: These are large, looping structures of plasma extending from the Sun's surface, often associated with sunspots. They can be observed as bright, reddish features.

    It's important to note:

    * Never look directly at the Sun without proper eye protection. Doing so can cause serious and permanent eye damage.

    * Use specialized solar filters or telescopes designed for solar observation. These filters block harmful radiation and allow you to safely view the Sun.

While we can observe these features, we can't directly see the Sun's interior or layers like the chromosphere or corona. These layers are only visible using specialized instruments and techniques.
