  • Estimated Number of Planets in the Universe: A Deep Dive
We don't know the exact number of planets in the universe. It's a mind-bogglingly large number, but we can only estimate.

    Here's what we do know:

    * Our galaxy, the Milky Way, is estimated to have over 100 billion planets.

    * There are billions of galaxies in the observable universe.

    * The Kepler Space Telescope has found thousands of exoplanets (planets outside our solar system), giving us a glimpse of the diversity of planets out there.

So, based on these observations, astronomers estimate that there are likely trillions upon trillions of planets in the universe.

It's important to remember that this is just an estimate. We are constantly learning more about the universe and its vastness, so the true number of planets could be even larger than we currently imagine.
