    The Moon appears fully lit when it is in a full moon phase. This happens when the Moon is opposite the Sun in the sky, meaning the Earth is positioned directly between the Sun and the Moon.

    In this position:

    * The entire sunlit side of the Moon faces the Earth.

    * We see the Moon as a complete, bright circle.
