  • Sunlight: Is It Reflected or Emitted? Understanding Solar Energy
    The sun gives off light.

    Here's why:

    * Nuclear Fusion: The sun produces light and heat through a process called nuclear fusion. In this process, hydrogen atoms fuse together to form helium, releasing tremendous amounts of energy in the form of light and heat.

    * Reflection vs. Emission: Reflection means bouncing light off a surface. While some sunlight is reflected by the Earth's atmosphere and surface, the primary source of sunlight is not reflection but the sun's own internal processes.

So, the sun is a giant ball of burning gas that creates its own light and heat.
