  • International Space Station Orbit: Beyond the Troposphere
No, the International Space Station (ISS) is not in the troposphere.

    Here's why:

    * The ISS orbits Earth at an altitude of approximately 400 kilometers (250 miles).

    * The troposphere is the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere, extending from the surface up to about 10 kilometers (6 miles).

Therefore, the ISS is well above the troposphere and actually orbits within the thermosphere, a much higher layer of the atmosphere.
