* Distance: The stars we see at night are light-years away. A light-year is the distance light travels in one year, and that's a *huge* distance! Even the closest star to our sun, Proxima Centauri, is about 4.24 light-years away.
* Perspective: The farther away an object is, the smaller it appears. This is the same reason a car in the distance looks tiny compared to a car parked nearby.
* Our Sun: Our Sun is relatively close to us, only about 93 million miles away. This proximity makes it appear much larger and brighter than other stars.
Important note: Many stars are actually larger than our Sun, but their vast distance makes them appear tiny in the night sky.
