* We haven't found them all: We've only discovered a tiny fraction of the stars in the Milky Way, and even fewer have confirmed planets around them.
* Difficult to detect: Finding exoplanets (planets outside our solar system) is challenging, especially for smaller planets or those far from their stars.
* Variety of systems: Solar systems come in all shapes and sizes, with different numbers of planets, types of planets, and distances between them.
Estimates:
Scientists use various methods to estimate the number of solar systems in the Milky Way. Current estimates suggest there are potentially billions of solar systems in our galaxy alone!
Important note: These are still estimates based on our current understanding. As technology improves and we continue to discover more exoplanets, our understanding of the prevalence of solar systems in the Milky Way will continue to evolve.
