  • Identifying Bright Stars After Sunset: Venus, Jupiter & Sirius
It's impossible to say for sure without knowing your location and the time of year. However, there are a few very bright stars that are often mistaken for planets:

    * Venus: Known as the "Evening Star" when visible after sunset, it's often the brightest object in the sky (excluding the Moon).

    * Jupiter: The largest planet in our solar system can also appear very bright, especially when it's close to Earth.

    * Sirius: The brightest star in the night sky, but it's usually visible later in the evening.

To identify the bright star, try using a stargazing app like SkySafari, Stellarium, or Star Walk. These apps will show you the current night sky and identify any bright objects you're looking at.

Let me know if you have any other information about the time, location, or the star's position in the sky, and I can help you identify it!
