  • Sirius: Understanding White Stars and the Dog Star
A great example of a white star is Sirius, also known as the Dog Star. It's the brightest star in our night sky and is located in the constellation Canis Major.

Here's why Sirius is considered a white star:

    * Spectral Type: Sirius is classified as an A-type star, which is known for its white to bluish-white color.

    * Temperature: A-type stars have surface temperatures ranging from 7,500 to 10,000 Kelvin, which is hot enough to produce a white light.

Keep in mind that, while Sirius appears white to our eyes, its true color is slightly bluish-white. This is because stars emit light across the entire spectrum, and our eyes perceive the combined light as white.
