  • New Horizons Mission: Exploring the Kuiper Belt After Pluto
New Horizons has already flown past Pluto and is now on its way to a small icy object called (486958) 2014 MU69, also known as Arrokoth. It flew past Arrokoth on January 1, 2019.

New Horizons is still operating and sending back valuable data about the Kuiper Belt. It is not currently planned to visit any other specific objects, but the mission team is exploring potential targets for future flybys.

    Here's a quick timeline:

    * 2015: New Horizons flies past Pluto.

    * 2019: New Horizons flies past Arrokoth.

    * Present: New Horizons continues to explore the Kuiper Belt, collecting data and searching for potential targets.

The mission is expected to continue until at least the mid-2020s, and potentially beyond, depending on the availability of funding and the health of the spacecraft.
