  • What is the Sun's Yellow Surface? Understanding the Photosphere
The apparent bright yellow surface of the Sun is called the photosphere.

    Here's why:

    * Photosphere: This is the visible surface of the Sun. It's the layer where the Sun becomes opaque to light, meaning light can no longer escape from deeper layers. The photosphere is about 500 kilometers (310 miles) thick.

    * Temperature: The photosphere has a temperature of about 5,500 degrees Celsius (9,932 degrees Fahrenheit). This temperature causes the Sun to emit a broad spectrum of light, with the peak intensity being in the yellow-green region. Our eyes perceive this peak as yellow, hence the Sun's apparent color.

It's important to note that the Sun actually emits all colors of light, but our eyes are most sensitive to yellow-green light. This is why the Sun appears yellow to us.
