While Jupiter's Great Red Spot has winds exceeding 400 mph, Neptune's winds are estimated to reach up to 1,200 mph (nearly twice the speed of sound).

The extreme winds on Neptune are powered by its internal heat and its rapid rotation. Its atmosphere is also very cold and contains large amounts of methane, which contributes to the formation of powerful storms.
