  • Venus: Why Its Brightness Appears to Vary Most from Earth
The planet that exhibits the greatest variation in apparent brightness from Earth is Venus.

    Here's why:

    * Orbit: Venus's orbit is closer to the Sun than Earth's, meaning it can appear in a wide range of angles relative to us.

    * Phases: Like the Moon, Venus exhibits phases. We can see it as a crescent, gibbous, full, and everything in between. This variation in how much sunlight reflects back to Earth causes significant brightness changes.

    * Cloud Cover: Venus is shrouded in thick, reflective clouds which contribute to its brightness.

While other planets like Mars and Jupiter also exhibit brightness variations, these are generally less dramatic than those of Venus.
