  • How the Moon Reflects Sunlight to Illuminate Earth
The moon doesn't actually produce its own light. It reflects sunlight.

    Here's how it works:

    * Sunlight: The sun is a giant ball of hot gas that produces light and heat.

    * Reflection: The moon's surface is covered in dust and rocks, which reflect some of the sunlight that hits it.

    * Moonlight: The reflected sunlight is what we see as moonlight.

So, the moon acts like a giant mirror, reflecting the sun's light and making it appear to shine.
